Why the LX2 is your best choice if working on your game

The simple reason is because the LX2 is the only floor mounted launch monitor

that captures real club path and club face angles from an over the top camera -

in addition to vertical launch angle and angle of attack angles from a side mounted camera

with post shot playback videos from both cameras.

To date, nearly all floor mounted golf launch monitors rely on measured ball side spin to show fades, draws, hooks and slices

but don't show the root cause of these shots.

Namely, club face angle relative to club path.

Thus, these launch monitors will only - at best - replicate your shots on the course -

and maybe attempt to back engineer to estimated club data

but will in no way show you how to improve your shot shaping or correct hooks and slices.

New IR LED power save management

for all IR LED powered SCX, LX and EVi systems

In order to save power and to extend the run time of the LX lithium battery, a new power management system will be implemented.

This system will automatically switch the IR Lights off when the system is not ready for a swing (i.e. when a ball is detected on the hitting mat).

After a shot, the lights will switch off until the next ball on the mat is detected.

This system also saves the user from having to manually switch the systems (SCX, LX and EVi) off when not in use.

Note: when the IR LEDs are constant ON, the systems consume around 40 watts or 4 amps (i.e. about the same as an incandescent light bulb)

How it works:

The IR LED banks will now be connected to solid state switches instead of directly to the power source (12v power supply or Lithium battery)

The switches are controlled by the camera's GPIO cable that is used to switch the green LED strip on and off.

When the system is looking for a ball on the mat or the user clicks the soft trigger button,

the IR LEDs are switched ON momentarily (100 ms) so that the camera's FOV is illuminated as usual.

i.e. the LEDs flash and are synced to the camera's exposure trigger.

When a ball on the hitting mat is detected, the IR LEDs are switched constant ON in readiness for the swing.

Should the ball not be hit within a (user defined) timeout period (default is 10 seconds for the LX when running with a battery, otherwise 5 mins),

then the system will go into sleep mode with the LEDs switched off until a mouse movement or click is detected.

While, when using AC power to run the system, this timeout period is not of any great consequence (i.e. you can set the time-out to 1 hour if you like),

it will definitely affect the run time period of the LX's lithium battery.

For those that already have a system, there will be a retro fit power save unit available

GSA Golf summer special low prices coming to an end as of September

The lower summer prices of all GSA Golf products will be coming to an end this weekend.

Prices of the GSA Golf CP software will go back to its original price of $299 and $399 respectively.

The SCX IR price will increase from $2,699 to $2,999 (still less than half the price of its competitors)

And the LX2 increases from $2,499 to $2,699 and LX1 increases to $1,699.

SCX track systems now also being laser precise pre-callibrated with camera alignments fixed.

As one of the most important but somewhat difficult for users to setup is the camera alignment.

Thus, all new SCX Track systems being shipped from now on will also have laser precision pre-calibrated cameras and aligned fixed camera mounts.

Brilliant new SCX IR lighting

After the success of the new LX lighting, I moved on to the SCX IR lighting.

Using just 2 CM Vision 24s but with 10 degree lenses on them, the results were astoundingly good.

Even though the exposure time was just 150 micro seconds and the gain just 200 db.

Due to this success, I can now reduce the price of the SCX IR from $3,499 to $2,699.

The cased visible light track version will now be made redundant (i.e. too many versions) as will the SCX Pro, but I'll keep the non-cased SCX track light version for the moment.
